" If... then... else..." is the logic behind all religious and mythological thoughts. But "If" is given a lot more
importance than it deserves. Everyone has to reach at only one place(as usual it's NO WHERE AND NOW
HERE) and the way, time to reach one there is not important because reaching there is far more important. You thought about Heaven and think that the God promises us an eternal life there. He never promises anything to anyone because He acts! We never promise to ourselves about doing something, if we are sure enough that we are going to do that. And, as I am The God ( and so are You). I would not like to promise myself anything less than Moksha, Mukti, Param Anand! All the other things like demons, higher spirits (lords), spirits with some supernatural powers -say power over fire etc. are essentially have been created for just a social purpose. Social peace! Ignorants behave socially because of only such fears that they will reach the hell... blah blah blah... .There is only one God and He is NOWHERE and NOW HERE so think Your Self, think logically read some religious books but interprete it for Your Self. Do not consider an author's interpretation and You'll get peace of mind as well as the way to go, that is to reach to Your Soul ( The God).
